Prayer to God as First Defender of the Republic

Look upon us this moment,
O LORD, O God above all things,
and abide with us now
in our necessary struggle
as First Defender of this Republic
to obtain for our people
the remembrance of Thy peace
and the blessings of Thy freedom.

Bless our one Filipino nation,
O LORD and Giver of all good things,
each and every Filipino heart,
that yet believes with conviction
in this endeavor of Country
(most especially at this crucial time
leading up to our Elections 2010)
that we may by our own willingness
be transformed by Thy abundant mercy.

Tarry with us in the darkness
O LORD and Sovereign of all nations
help us, teach us, bless us
that we may prosper in Thy sight
and in Thy grace and in Thy counsels
remain secure in Thy commandments
walking upright in Thy ways
that we may become the light
that You want this nation
and every nation to be
upon this, our midnight world,
so much in need of Thy presence
like the daybreak twilight is
so much in need of Thee.

For us, Christians, we must add:

This we humbly implore
in the Name of Jesus Christ,
our most loving Lord and Savior,

AMEN.

For all the rest:

This we humbly implore,
O LORD and one common Creator
of all things, seen and unseen,

AMEN.

The Electorate and the Force of Free Choice

ALL THINGS THAT ARE OF TIMELESS WORTH do not come to any soul by chance, it must be a thing seized like a freedom won and all things won must first be a victory chosen and a path realized by it towards a destiny that is right - for that soul and for each that soul alone.

And if good things do happen to our shared humanity, it must be understood, that these things were also won for us by other souls, daring with our hopes together along paths that through virtue and the art of its grace ascend to make us kindred to each other in being and through our patient keeping of the common human good, with each other, rise above and beyond the nature of those unnatural things that divide and deceive the one family of Mankind.

Indeed, we can not be, as human beings, happy bereft of the choices necessary to make us free and the Liberty to allow for our freedoms to mature and these choices, by and large, do not fall to our laps by random chance.

It is also as such in the life of our nations.

Now, let us, as a free and enabled electorate, consider in the context of all of this, the act of voting itself. For it is quite important that it be further understood and remembered by all our democratic societies that there is a three-fold significance in the one seamless vote.

For contained within the act of voting itself, to begin with, without neither name nor proposition being put down on the ballot itself is (1) the consent of the governed to be governed; the act of choosing the name or proposition itself to put down on the ballot symbolic of (2) that citizen's choice to willingly participate in the democratic life of the one Republic whole and the choice itself of who is to represent that individual in the Republic forum or what proposition the quorum of the people makes specific and explicit to the state as its public mandate, (3) a peaceful exercise of force against the tyranny of evil things that make captive the life and the Liberty of the nation.

Because who or what we vote for in the life of our one Republic whole proceeds from the act of the vote itself, it is vital that each the hearts of our citizens understand and apply themselves to the three-fold significance of these things that happen in the space of that one seamless vote, that one very important choice; that the will of the electorate may be so enabled and the hope of this nation thus, preserved that the peace of our one Republic is both strengthened and assured by the force of our free choice; its promise of Country kept by the keeping of each our sacred trust, under the eternal vigilance of the one Almighty, for our own good, for our own common good and for the life and the Liberty of the generations to come.

Indeed, where the genuine commonweal of Country is, under the eternal vigilance of Almighty God, a matter of sacred and public trust, nobody who is a citizen exercising his or her legal right to vote and to responsibly participate in those honorable democratic traditions that guarantee the continuity of our necessary governance in the state really lose out who as part of the electorate exercise the force of a free and enabled choice in any election when these are things considered in the greater context of the life of the one Republic whole.

Elections 2010: A Portrait of a Filipino Leader

WHAT do we need to see in our leadership?

We need a leader who is above of all committed to the truth: A strong leader.

Truth is when we see a table. It is solid. It is useful. It is good. It is meaningful because its purpose is good. All true things are meaningful because they are good. And they are good independent of our reality. They are good because God alone is good.

That is the truth.

To break the table is evil because it takes the substance of the good out of its truth, making the idea of the table incomprehensible to the human soul. To say that something broken is good is to allow mischief in the heart. To allow mischief to linger in the heart is to incline one's will toward evil. And to manifest this evil in the will is sinful.

Evil harms the reality of our relationships with God and with each other.

That is also the truth.

We need a leader that is grounded in moral reality and not a moral relativist who sees things in convenient shades of gray. A leader who is committed on building up our nation upon the ageless ground of timeless truth. For this is what commitment is: It must be a commitment to the truth, for where else would one be committed to or worse, upon this earth, who.

We need a leader who is faithful to the office of the Republic and not to the interest of the self; one who knows how to temper justice with mercy, being forbearing in hope, patient in adversity, and humble in spirit; one who is truly loyal to the one Peace which is the sheltering wings of Country and the honor of our state.

A secular leader, sincere in word, gifted with a strong sense of humanity and inspired by our one Almighty God being aflame with parental compassion for the one Filipino nation.

That to me, is the portrait of a true Filipino leader and where I am able to see this in one of our civilian candidates, that person shall have earned the full force of my own vote as a citizen of this one Republic.

On the Politics of the one Majority

AS ROMAN CATHOLIC LAITY, we must be able to clearly and distinctly express social actions within our national community which are done in the Name of our LORD God in Jesus Christ as a Church - in communion with our pastors and each other as Christians - as well as those which are done in the name of Country as a body politic - in community with our state and each other as citizens under one God. This need was expressed by Pope John Paul II in the encyclical Sollicitudi Rei Socialis.

Therefore, as regards to the apostolate of the Peace of Jesus Christ and its particular charism, in order to promote the two-fold mission of our community, the one Solidarity and the one Majority shall be this clear distinction desired by our most loving Lord, Jesus Christ, through Pope John Paul II, of blessed memory, in the encyclical Sollicitudi Rei Socialis.

All Preservators of second Magnitude down echelon and their constituent active elements in the community are heretofore strongly encouraged to participate as dutiful citizens when necessary in the civic actions that constitute the social mission of the one Majority.

However, all first Magnitude Preservators are heretofore, to be completely dedicated to the one Solidarity alone - having to undertake a solemn vow of obedience to the Vicar of Christ on earth in particular and to the Bishops in communion with our Holy Father in general.

As the political leaning of the one Majority seem to be towards Christian Democracy and its perfection in exile time as an instrument of God in Country, we shall ally ourselves closely with the Centrist Democrats International in general and in particular here in the Philippines with Lakas-CMD (Christian-Muslim Democrats).

However, we shall keep to our own distinct identity as a buffer to make sure that the party that carries the electoral mandate of the people in the Republic is for the people and never for the party; that public service always remain a calling of God and never an ambition of Man.

Let us always bear in mind the motto of the one Majority: SERVIAM - only this keeps us who we are, only this keeps at least two-thirds of the stars of heaven always present in our hearts with God, keeping us who we are as a whole - a one Majority.

As any fruit can never be known just for being a tree, a Christian can never be defined by definition alone but by action. As no prayer is ever complete without its act, we must, as a whole, be able to intertwine commission and mission into Christian duty, into real charity - for when one sows a thought (in the ground of the heart-mind as in prayer), we reap an act, when one sows an act, we reap a habit, when one sows a habit, we reap a character, when one sow a character, we reap a destiny.

Therefore, let us be ready to produce in ourselves (shoulder to shoulder with all honorable religion most especially, our Abrahamic brethren and sisters) what Christ requires of us - fruit which is edible unto all mankind and good for all time - for there is but one way to achieve right action, for being patient, kind, merciful, just, truly loving and every way good in God for others with God becomes only when we learn to become who we are in Jesus Christ, neither holding back nor exceeding the promise that we have gained through His life, labor, Passion and Cross, death and Resurrection at the Incarnation and His most glorious rule over us in heaven and on earth at every Holy Mass unto the Last Day.

Finally, where the one Solidarity can not endorse a candidate for presidency in 2010 or at any other time, the one Majority can - as a matter of civic duty - so therefore, we shall seek today - across party lines - and ponder in our own hearts, the attributes that best characterize the person that would be most suitable to govern with justice and charity our long-suffering Filipino nation.

I, as I am, can neither name nor endorse any person, I may only describe the need. However, let me impress upon each of you the great depth of this need: Verily, we can not, as a nation, afford in this day and age to not pay complete attention to this, our own endeavor of Country, anymore - the consequences are just too dire, I can not fully express them.
